Personally I am very lazy about boat maintenance. i try to convince myself that my dirty scratched bottom and my dinged up board don’t really matter all that much at my level of ability. But then maybe that’s why I have my (currently mediocre) level of ability?

I suspect they don’t have quite the same impact on boat-speed as daggerboards – well, in a Laser anyway. The daggerboard is very large in the Laser.

I like a clean bottom, too, Doc, but I don’t worry about it like I used to. Maybe I should?

I should specify that I’m still talking about my Laser – my actual bottom is the very definition of cleanliness.

‘Tis true, though. Set up the boat to be fast, and then try not to slow it down too much…

I need to have the expectancy of an edge and then to remember to just get out of my boat’s way to sail fast!

I had a nick out of the corner of mine and tried unsuccessfully to fix it a couple of times but the repair just fell off at the slightest bump. So, the only solution was a new one. Unfortunately, even with the new one, I do not seem to go any faster.
